2021 MIPS Reporting Submission Period Now Open

the ACR RISE Registry Team  |  January 7, 2022

The 2021 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) federal reporting submission period is now open; providers must submit their data by March 31 at 8 p.m. ET. MIPS submissions through the ACR’s Rheumatology Informatics System for Effectiveness (RISE) registry will open in February, and the deadline for practices to submit through RISE is March 15.

It is important to understand the reporting requirements for the Quality, Promoting Interoperability, Improvement Activities and Cost performance categories. To aid practices in completing their MIPS dashboard and successfully reporting through RISE, ACR RISE registry staff created the 2021 MIPS Reporting Guide. The reporting guide walks through step-by-step instructions on how to complete the 2021 MIPS Dashboard and submit for 2021 MIPS.

As a reminder, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced in November that the automatic extreme and uncontrollable circumstances policy (EUC) will be applied to all individual MIPS-eligible clinicians for performance year 2021. For more information, review this CMS EUC Fact Sheet.

If you have general questions about MIPS reporting, contact ACR staff at [email protected] or CMS directly at [email protected].
