The ACR has exciting news regarding the college’s Rheumatoid Arthritis Alternative Payment Model (RA-APM). In 2018, the ACR began small-scale data collection to inform different financial assumptions in the APM. These data enabled ACR to estimate the time it takes physicians and staff to provide care for current patients matching the proposed APM categories. ACR also estimated how much that time would change in the RA-APM.

With data collection and analysis concluded and the RA-APM updated with the assumed payment rates, the ACR will now submit the RA-APM to the Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC) for review and feedback. Submission is expected by fall of 2019.
More information about APMs and the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) are available from the ACR.
