the ACR RISE Registry Team  |  March 4, 2022

On March 1, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reopened the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) Application for the 2021 MIPS Performance Year for groups, virtual groups and Alternative Payment Model (APM) Entities. The application is now open through March 31, 2022, at 8 p.m. EDT.

Applications received between now and March 31 won’t override previously submitted data for groups and virtual groups. All individual MIPS-eligible clinicians will automatically receive the EUC exception and do not need to submit an application.
