This committee will also be working with a new model to select leadership. The selection process will be tied to strategic competencies required for specific committees and roles. The goal is to be very transparent in the process for naming each member to a committee, the Board or leadership. Members will be selected because of the strengths, experience, knowledge and insights they bring to the table, in alignment with the organization’s needs for specific skills and abilities.

The Committee on Nominations and Appointments will work with the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee and each ACR Committee to determine which strategic competencies are needed at each level. The committee will also enact the ACR’s commitment to diverse representation as part of its selection process.

The Board of Directors will discuss the strategic competencies as part of its Winter Board meeting in February, and those will be shared with the membership prior to the Call for Volunteers on March 1.

In Sum

As chair of the Committee on Nominations and Appointments, I look forward to implementing these changes, which will move the ACR volunteer leadership process forward and ensure we fill the needs of our organization while being more open and inclusive as we select our future leaders.
