The AMA Seeks Physician Input to Inform Medicare Physician Payment

From the College  |  October 9, 2023

The American Medical Association (AMA) is requesting selected physicians to participate in its Physician Practice Information (PPI) Survey to help update Medicare physician payment. The purpose of this survey, endorsed by more than 170 medical societies and other healthcare associations, is to collect accurate, up-to-date data on practice costs. These data were last collected more than 15 years ago, and updated data are critically important to ensure accurate payment.

The consulting firm Mathematica is helping the AMA run this survey. Your practice may receive an email (from [email protected]) and an USPS priority mail packet from Mathematica containing a link to the survey and supporting information. We urge you to speak with your practice management colleagues to determine if they have received these communications and ask them to complete this important survey. In the coming weeks or months, your practice or Mathematica, may ask you to complete a brief survey on the number of weekly hours spent on direct patient care. We urge you to complete this two-minute survey and help update Medicare physician payment.

    January 18, 2017

As 2017 unfolds—a year when MACRA begins, lawmakers take steps to dismantle the health reform efforts of the past eight years, and political uncertainty is the rule—it is imperative that the ACR leverage its advocacy agenda by maintaining its seat at the American Medical Association’s (AMA’s) House of Delegates (HOD), says Gary Bryant, MD, FACP…

As the result of years of coalition work with partners at the AMA, the ACR recently celebrated a major advocacy win when the FTC announced an investigation of PBM business practices. Join or renew your AMA membership before Sept. 1 so the ACR can keep delegate seats to drive action within the AMA.
