Lupus Nephritis From the College | May 9, 2025 The ACR recently released a new guideline on the screening, treatment and overall management of lupus nephritis in children and adults. It attempts to balance the risks of medication side effects with the important goal of preserving kidney function. These recommendations should not be used to limit or deny access to therapies because treatment decisions may vary due to the unique clinical situation and personal preferences of each individual patient. The new guideline contains a strong recommendation that patients with an established diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus be screened for proteinuria: A. Only when experiencing extra-renal flares B. Once every two years C. Every six to 12 months D. At every visit None Time's up
