New RheumPAC Investor Portal Unveiled

Harry L. Gewanter, MD, FAAP, FACR  |  Issue: December 2017  |  October 19, 2017

This is my fifth year serving on RheumPAC, and some of the questions that I repeatedly have been asked include:

  • Why can’t I divide my investments into automatic monthly payments?
  • Why can’t I invest from my phone?
  • Why can’t I schedule an annual contribution so I don’t forget to invest?
  • Why can’t I look up my investment history for the year?

These are important and frustrating issues that our prior investment system could not handle; however, things have changed, and we are happy to announce the launch of our new RheumPAC investor portal.

Portal Features, Functions & How You Can Access Them
The new portal will provide an easier and more efficient means for you to support the advocacy work of the ACR. Specifically, the RheumPAC portal now allows you to:

  • Invest from your phone or tablet, not just your computer;
  • Set up automatic monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual investments with your credit card;
  • Review your investments at any time; and
  • Alter or make additional investments whenever you wish.

Starting today, you can access the new portal through the RheumPAC page. Once accessed, you can create an investment plan that works for you—no more concerns about whether you have supported our profession and patients this year.

A Note to Current & Future Investors
To all of ACR and ARHP members who are current RheumPAC investors: thank you. I hope the portal will make your continued support easier.

For those members who have not yet invested in RheumPAC:  Check out our work and the new portal through the ACR website, and consider setting up an investment plan that fits your economic situation. For example, $42 per month will make you a Gold Investor ($500 per year).

Remember, RheumPAC is the ACR’s nonpartisan political voice advocating on your behalf to improve policy that governs healthcare. Your RheumPAC investments help educate our elected officials about our daily issues and support champions of policies that help us conduct important research and provide the best and most affordable care possible. I urge you to sign into the new portal and invest today.

Note: Only current members of the ACR/ARHP who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents may invest their personal funds in RheumPAC.

Harry L. Gewanter, MD, FAAP, FACR, is a clinical associate professor of pediatrics at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Va. He is the recipient of the 2013 Paulding Phelps Award from the ACR and the chair of the ACR RheumPAC.

    I RheumPAC, Do You?

    September 1, 2009

    For many years, the ACR board of directors and Government Affairs Committee have done exemplary work in keeping members abreast of legislative regulatory issues that affect all aspects of rheumatology, including patient and physician/healthcare professional issues, education, and research. Through advocacy, the ACR advances rheumatology and fosters excellence in the care of people with, or at risk for, arthritis and rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases. One might say that advocacy is a cornerstone of this organization.
