Dr. Stamp is a rheumatologist and professor of medicine at the University of Otago in Christchurch, New Zealand, as well as the clinical lead for research at Health New Zealand. She is the recipient of several prestigious honors, including the Arthritis New Zealand National Researcher Award. Dr. Stamp has extensively researched the pathophysiology and management of gout.
Dr. Stamp’s own research focuses on refining current treatments for rheumatic diseases broadly and gout in particular. She has conducted pharmacokinetic and pharmacogenetic studies concerning allopurinol, the standard for urate-lowering therapy for gout. Her clinical research repertoire also includes clinical trials related to methotrexate, a crucial drug in the management of rheumatoid arthritis.
