ARHP Members Earn Leadership Position, Award

ARHP member Kamala Nola, PharmD, MS, was inducted as the 2011–2012 president-elect of the Tennessee Pharmacists Association at its 124th annual convention. The Tennessee Pharmacists Association, a professional organization of more than 2,500 pharmacists and student pharmacists in all practice areas across the state, promotes the delivery of quality pharmaceutical care, and works to enhance the knowledge, ethics, and skills of pharmacists and to protect and improve public health.

Dr. Nola is vice-chair for the department of pharmacy practice at Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy in Nashville. As a faculty member, she focuses on communications skills for pharmacists, healthcare policy and delivery, outcomes research, public health, rheumatology and ambulatory care, and care of the vulnerable and underserved. Dr. Nola teaches healthcare policy and delivery, communications skills for healthcare professionals, rheumatology pharmacotherapy, and pharmacy leadership and advocacy.

Dr. Nola has served on several ARHP committees, including posts as chair of the ARHP Advocacy Subcommittee, representative to the ACR Committee on Government Affairs, and as a member of the ARHP Executive Committee. She currently serves on the ACR Quality Measures Subcommittee. Dr. Nola has worked tirelessly to support arthritis-related advocacy efforts over the years, spending numerous hours on Capitol Hill and her local districts carrying the message of arthritis constituents.

Award of Distinction

Danuta Bujak, PhD, FNP, an ARHP member, was honored as the recipient of the 2011 Yale School of Nursing Distinguished Alumna Award. Dr. Bujak was recognized for her scholarship, teaching, clinical practice, leadership, and research in clinical nursing, and contributions to the professional community and society as a whole. She has spent 25 years in clinical rheumatology and has expertly managed patients alongside rheumatologists and on her own.

Dr. Bujak
Dr. Bujak

Dr. Bujak has been an ARHP volunteer for several years, serving on many committees, including her current position as representative to the ACR Quality Measures Subcommittee. She has been acknowledged for outstanding clinical knowledge, skills, and professional competence leading to her academic status at two medical schools and leadership positions in clinical research projects for two rheumatology divisions. Dr. Bujak’s contributions to advancing the art and science of rheumatology have been well documented through her many presentations, and publications and current leadership in the Osteoarthritis Study at the University of Maryland.

The ARHP congratulates these members on their recent accomplishments.
